25 Weeks

So this week I could barely muster the energy for a fake smile. So this picture feels a little 'off' to me.

I'm thinking I might be getting a little anemic so I'm going to ask my Dr to take some blood at my next appt (Feb 2).  I even had to saturate this picture to get some color in my skin.

We ordered the glider from La-z-boy. It is easily the most comfortable thing I've ever sat in. I'm hoping to sleep in it when it finally arrives (6-8 weeks).  Due to the size and the color we won't be picking out a dresser or other furniture until it arrives so the nursery is on hiatus until the middle to end of February. Hopefully the bedding and window treatments come in soon so we can start to decorate!

24 weeks

Can you tell how exhausted I am? I'm told I'll never sleep again.

So I'm officially 6 months pregnant...crazy huh? With this great milestone comes the relief of knowing that the odds of my baby surviving preterm labor today are very good.  It is the week where your child is viable outside of the womb.  Exciting!  Although I'm expecting Clark to cook a little while longer, it is nice to know that he can be here safely any day now. :)

I'm doing MUCH better than last week. My back pains have mostly subsided and I've gotten used to the contractions.  Now I'm just cranky because I'm snowed in. I hate snow.  The upside to the snow is that we've been able to really work on the foundations of the nursery.  We primed and painted the walls and ceiling, plus decided to add crown moulding :)  We salvaged the crown moulding that was torn off our basement walls during the great flood of 2009.  Even though moulding is extremely cheap I was very happy that a few feet of decorative trim was saved from the landfill. Always makes me happy to recycle!

Next up on the nursery front:
- We're ordering the glider next week (a gift from my mom and dad-- Thanks!)
- Still have to paint the door and the closet doors
- We already ordered the window treatments and the bedding, but that won't come in until mid February
- Still need a mattress and a dresser
- New door handle for the outside door and the closet doors, new light switch and outlet covers, and a new pull for the ceiling fan
- We're thinking about spray painting the ceiling fan too, its pretty hideous. But that is a job for warmer weather
-Decor, Decor, Decor! i.e. the fun part :)

Don't you love the fluffy green rug?

I enhanced the contrast for this pic so you can see the blue ceiling better. In real life it is very subtle.

23 Weeks

Happy New Year!

Yea, I'm late again, get over it. :) Oh and btw, that picture is actually 23w and 5d...hehe.

So I seem to have turned a pregnancy corner these past few weeks.  I went from blissfully unaffected by the growing baby to painful days and nights.  Suddenly I have severe back pain (I blame the holiday weight gain), indigestion (I blame Corey), and braxton hicks contractions (can I blame Corey for these too?).  BH contractions are like "practice" contractions and are not harmful, however they are uncomfortable.
Blah.

We are starting to get the nursery ready which means priming and painting!  Luckily Corey has a few days left before going back to school, so while I type away at the computer with a heating pad on my back, he's in there priming away the yellow to make room for a creamy neutral.

Here he is hard at work.

Here are the "before" pictures of the nursery.  Remember, it was originally set up for a 5 year old girl, so yes it already kinda looks like a childs room.

And here is the beautiful crib that my mama bought us :)

Merry Christmas!

I'm I too late to say Merry Christmas?  Maybe I'll just pretend I'm not late this week and just pretend like I'm right on time to say Happy New Year!

This year we hosted Christmas for Corey's side of the family.  It was great to have everyone here for such an extended period of time, but it was exhausting!  My kitchen has very little counter space so it was easier for me to tackle all the cooking for the weekend, but by Sunday I had broken capillaries in my legs from standing so long!  Luckily Corey's parents bought us all pizza that night so I had the evening off :)

Sunday the kids were supposed to arrive by 5pm, but due to a freak snowfall their plane was delayed over 5 hours!  They got back to the house after 11pm and we celebrated a second Christmas on Monday morning.  They've been here ever since, so luckily Corey took them out to the movies today so I could get some rest and relaxation.

This week I've been feeling ok. I'm plagued with exhaustion and heartburn and my back has started hurting from the neck to my tailbone, but I can't complain... much.
Clark has been moving around like a heavyweight kickboxer which keeps me up at night. I'm working to change his schedule a bit and I think its been working a bit.  I think he's going through a growth spurt because I've been super tired and super hungry recently. We'll see. My next appointment is next week sometime, although we won't have an ultrasound.

ps: I just realized this is the same shirt I was wearing in the 9weeks photo. I wonder how much longer it will fit!

Here is a photo of our very first Christmas tree. Don't judge the sparseness of it, please.  We'll get more decorations as the years go on but we're very happy with the way it turned out this year.

Week 21

It is an embarrassment that I don't own a single Eagles shirt or jersey.  So here I am about to head out to watch the Eagles masterful defeat of the Giants in my green striped shirt.

Nothing much new to discuss this week (which is great!).  Christmas is just around the corner so we've been busy preparing the house for our guests and our kids.  To make room for the nursery we moved Karryssa's room into the room that used to hold the office and the office was scattered throughout the house.   In order to make the transition easier on Karryssa, I decided to completely re-decorate her room. I painted all types of things: a dresser, the window shutters, the doors and trim, & the drawer handles. We bought a new writing desk and new decor including a rug, a lamp, wall stickers, accent pillows, desk chair, mirror, and window valiance. We've basically finished this project (whew) and we are about to embark on the nursery.  Starting after the new year, I'll post weekly updates to the nursery along with my bump pics.

Have a great Christmas or Holiday break!

Say hello to Clark Robert McGee!

So our baby is officially all boy!
We went today for our final scan and not only did we verify that we are indeed having a little boy, but we were also assured that everything is developing well.  All the organs are there and working appropriately and there don't seem to be any physical anomalies either.   We were also happy to find out our baby is on the larger end of the scale, measuring about a week ahead.

Welcome!

After 21 weeks of pregnancy I am finally putting together a baby blog!

Corey and I first found out we were pregnant in August and we were ecstatic.  We had only been trying for a few months and we were thankful that it was so easy for us.  We know quite a few couples who are struggling with infertility, so we certainly count our blessings.

The first few months were marked only by extreme exhaustion.  The simple act of vacuuming after work was enough to make me take a three hour nap.  But I was lucky! I had no morning sickness, only a little queasiness and some major food aversions.  I still can't even think about eggs (ugh).

I'm still doing quite well, but my new body is getting difficult to work with.  I'm trying yoga to help with the back pain and stretching to help me sleep without getting charlie horses in my legs.

I hope to update this blog often, particularly after our little one arrives.
